Last time I talked about synthetic fragrances, and their toxicity. Some people are thinking “but I love the smell of flowers, or citrus, or sap. So, what do I do?”
If you really want to keep extra fragrances in your life for body products, cleaning supplies, or just as an ambient scent in your home, try essential oils, or infused oils.
If you choose to use essential oils, be careful, and do your research. Over 80% of them are adulterated, with cheap synthetic fragrances. I can recommend a few companies that are pure, and there may be more.
Veriditas – my favorite, organic, pure, and conscientious practices
Mountain Rose Herbs – also organic, based in Oregon, and conscientious practices
Amrita – organic, and conscientious practices
NOW – not for internal use, by their own claims
Aura Cacia – okay
DoTerra – okay
Young Living – okay
These can be added to liquid soap, shampoo, detergent, cream, lotion, or oil as you like. Just add 1-5 drops per oz, depending on how strong you like it.
You can even make your own spray cleaner using a spray bottle, unscented soap, water, and your choice of essential oils.
Infused oils are best for skin and hair. I will write about how you can make your own soon.
